Human history from a spiritual perspective

The current situation in the world is full of uncertainties due to degraded financial, and political institutions; religions, wars, conflicts, economic problems, health problems, climate crisis, etc.

Scientific history of mankind is based on archeology, genetics, linguistics, etc. It is also based on a belief on evolution of human beings from apes, and a belief on linear view of time. It is soul less, and God-less. It believes that human nature is constantly vicious because of its evolution. It does not provide wisdom to face the current situation.

A spiritual perspective from Raja yoga is a great help to face the current situaton with equanimity.

The spiritual perspective holds the belief that matter(inlcuding biological life), souls, and God are eternal and their interactions are also eternal and cyclic. These interactions identically repeat every 5000 years.

What is the history of human souls and their relation to human history?

Before answering to the question, we need to understand what a soul is, what God is, and where these reside.

Soul is an infinetesimal point source of energy  which manifests consciousness in terms of mind, intellect, and sanskaras (personality traits).  Souls belong to paramdham, the region beyond  physical universe comprising planets, stars, galaxies, etc.

A human being is a soul in a human body. In other words, a soul is a guest in the body. Also like a driver in a car.

God is also a soul. It is supreme one among all souls. God is incorporeal. It/He does not take rebirth.

The interactions of souls and matter take place on the planet earth. These interactions are cyclical and understood in terms of human political/religio/geologic/demographic histories. These fit into 5000 years long eternal cycles.

The beginning of the current cycle goes back to 5000 years from now.

Political history

Political institutions in  the beginning of the cycle are monarchies of double crowned kings. One crown is physical and the other is crown of the light due to purity of soul. (In Hindu culture, these are usually shown on the heads of deities). These monarchies last for first 2500 years of the cycle. There after the monarchies of single/physical crowned kings emerge as the purity of human souls is lost.  Towards the end of the cycle, single crowned kings are replaced by democratically elected leaders, dictators, etc.

Religious history

In the first half of the cycle, there is no religion as we understand it today. The rulers and subjects are pure with divine and positive qualities. There are no vices active in the human personality. There is no violence, no greed, and no attachment. There is plenty of natural wealth. The firtst half is Heaven on the earth. Gradually the purity of  human souls is lost by the end of the first half of the cycle. As a result, 5 vices start appearing in human personality. Sorrow in human society begins then onwards. To give the support to the suffering society, the religions as we know it today start appearing from the second half of the cycle(~500BC). By the end of the cycle, these religions degenerate and leading to religious wars and conflicts. By the end of the second half, sorrow grows to extreme extent. The end of the cycle pertains to Hell on the earth.

Geological history

Every 2500 years the earth goes through caclysmic events. One at the beginning of the cycle and the other in the middle of the cycle. At the beginning of the cycle, there is one land and one sea on the planet earth. These lasts for 2500 years. By the end of the first half of the cycle, there are cataclysmic events resulting to one land splitting into 7 continents and 4 oceans. These lasts for 2500 years till the next cataclysmic events that result into one land and one sea.

Demographic history

In the beginning of the cycle, there is one language and roughly one million people on the earth. There is a single civilisation and its home is northen India. It lasts till the end of the first half of the cycle. By then the population grows to 330 millions. Humanity’s home spreads into different continents in the cataclysmic events in the middle of the cycle. Different races and languages emerge then onwards. Towards the end of the cycle, human population grows to 8 billions. This will be reduced to roughly one million after the cataclysmic events of the beginning of the next cycle.

History of human souls and human beings

Human souls and supreme soul belong to paramdham, and stay there till their part begins in the cycle on the earth. When a human soul enters the earth to play its part from paramdham, it continues to take rebirth till the end of the cycle. A human soul may have a maximum of 84 births in the cycle. Souls that have come in the beginning of the cycle take 84 births, and souls that have come towards the end of the cycle, take one birth.  Some souls stay for a brief time in paramdham while some stay for most of the cycle.

The supreme soul (God) resides in paramdham for almost the entire cycle. It/He does not come into rebirth in the cycle. He is active in the second half of the cycle to give support to human beings. He has a direct part in human history for 100 years during the confluence of old and new cycles. His part is to teach Gyan(Knowledge/wisdom) and Yog( method of connecting/remembering Him) to prepare the human souls for the next cycle.

The cyclic play is well designed and orchestrated by meta-consciousness, which is responsible for the consciousness of different kinds. Meta-consciousnes is also responsible for the intelligence behind the design of non-living, and living forms; souls, God and their interactions.

God has special role with human souls for sustaining their parts in the cycle. His role is based on different relations with Him. The relations are  Father, Mother, Teacher, Guide, etc.
